TrueLens Community Media (formerly SWCTC) Launches New Brand

Join the Chamber and become a viable member of the local business community.

COTTAGE GROVE, MN – [May 20, 2025]
After more than four decades the South Washington County Telecommunications Commission (SWCTC) is proud to announce its new name and brand identity: TrueLens Community Media.

This rebranding marks a significant milestone in the organization's continued evolution and commitment to providing authentic, high-quality local video and audio content to the communities of Woodbury, Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport, and Grey Cloud Island Township.
"For years, we’ve heard just about every version of our old name—'the cable commission,' 'SW-something-TC,' and plenty of creative variations in between," said Ann Schweisguth, Executive Director. "We realized it was time for a name that people could connect with, easily remember, and say with confidence."

The name TrueLens reflects the organization’s mission to offer a clear, honest, and community-centered lens on life in south Washington County. It represents a fresh identity, while continuing the legacy of P.E.G. (public, educational, and government) access programming that has kept residents informed and connected for decades. Our new tagline—Watch • Listen • Connect—reflects the heart of our mission. These three words concisely capture our core purpose: to create meaningful videos and podcasts that connects residents and visitors with their local government and their community. Whether it’s a city council meeting, a local story, or a neighborhood event, we’re here to ensure people are informed, engaged, and heard. This tagline isn’t just a slogan; it’s a promise to continue delivering content that matters, with clarity and purpose.

“We’re excited to begin this new chapter,” said Andrea Date, SWCTC Chair. “TrueLens Community Media signals a refreshed identity that aligns with our evolving mission and future goals. While our board of directors will continue under the name South Washington County Telecommunications Commission (SWCTC), the public will come to know our staff and our work as TrueLens Community Media.”

Our team is excited about the future! After years of searching and planning we will be relocating our facility to Woodbury Central Park in 2026. We will continue to deliver content on our Xfinity cable channels 798, 799, and 859 and utilize our facility for production shoots, studio rental and hopefully some community workshops. The new location will serve as the home base for our new low-power FM radio stations, WWBY 91.5FM and WGRO 104.5FM launching in 2026. These stations will allow us to deliver hyper-local audio programming focused on news, government, music, community voices and possibly even local high school sports. Look for future communication on ways you can voice your opinion on what kind of content you want to hear.  Ready for some local podcasting content right now? Subscribe to the TrueLens Podcast — launching in June with a new episode added on the first Wednesday of every month.

The TrueLens Community Media team will be out and about this year at local events including Strawberry Fest, Woodbury Days, Heritage Days, and Pioneer Day.  Ask our crew questions and share your ideas, we’re always happy to connect with our neighbors and hear what matters most to you. And if you spot the TrueLens van around town, don’t hesitate to give us a wave.
